Erin Peterson

My name is Erin Peterson. My husband (Brody) and I, along with our daughter (Everly) reside in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Brody is the Service Manager for Butler Machinery and I work part time as a university instructor in the Education Department. I also attend preschool with my daughter as her paraprofessional.

What is your connection to MMIHS and/or why do you want to be on the board?

My daughter, Everly, was born with MMIHS just over three years ago. Due to the rarity of this syndrome, there was very little research available at this time. We were simply given an outdated article and grim prognosis. Due to medical advancements and a greater awareness, the life expectancy/quality of life is changing for the better. I am serving on this board in an effort to better the life of not only my daughter, but also others living with this syndrome.

Fun Fact i.e. What are your hobbies, where have you traveled, do you have pets, etc.

My hobbies include spending time with family and friends, playing tennis, and traveling. I have recently enjoyed traveling out east to spend time with families who have children with MMIHS. I am looking forward to continuing my travels to hopefully meet other families who are “walking in my shoes” and to help spread awareness for this very rare syndrome.

Anything else you'd like to add?

We believe it takes a village to raise any baby, but especially one with a rare syndrome such as MMIHS. We are so grateful to all of have and will support us along the way! Together we truly are better!
